Purpose

The purpose of the Great Lakes Chapter is to promote interest in old mills within the Chapter’s area, which includes Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Illinois. We encourage the preservation of local history related to mills, mill sites, and memories. We also act as a clearing house on mill information among our members and other interested individuals. We encourage membership in our organization and the national organization, and in doing so we increase the awareness of mills and milling around the world.

The chapter generally will meet twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall.  The meeting usually involves visiting a mill, a presentation, and a chapter business meeting during a luncheon. In 2023 the chapter will have a third meeting in July, along with meetings in May and September.
